We the undersigned hereby call on Attorney General Jerry Brown to recognize that the tax burden on Californians is already substantial and to reject increased, wasteful government spending.
As governor three decades ago, Jerry Brown supported 7 billion in tax increases, ballooned spending by 160-percent and squandered a budget surplus, leaving the state with a massive deficit.
As mayor of Oakland, Brown successfully pushed tax increases and drove government spending up by 60-percent.
In his current role as attorney general, Brown spent 230,000 redecorating his office while California families and state government were grappling with a crushing downturn in the economy and staggering budget deficits.
We, therefore, the undersigned, hereby formally request that Attorney General Brown promptly disavow any further plans to engage in harmful, wasteful government spending, and respect the fact that Californians are already taxed enough.
